  • Risk institute proposed for Toronto

A proposal to make Toronto a top financial centre includes the creation of a global institute for risk management.
It is part of a plan created by the Toronto Financial Services Working Group with help from the Boston Consulting Group.
The risk management institute would facilitate international collaboration among government regulators, risk experts and the insurance industry.
Its focus would be to provide research and education across various risk management disciplines.
“Our goal is quite simply to become one of the two leading financial clusters in North America and one of the top five to seven global centres,” Janet Ecker, president of the Toronto Financial Services Alliance and TFSWG co-chair, said.
“With a focused strategy and disciplined execution, this goal is well within reach.”
